Utah Rivers Council Launches 4,200 Project

October 25, 2023

Over the past year, Utah Rivers Council staff have been working tirelessly to provide a package of solutions to the Great Salt Lake crisis through extensive research, creative synthesis, and thoughtful strategy. We are excited to finally unveil our comprehensive campaign to raise the Great Salt Lake to the healthy level of 4,200 feet above sea level.

We are proud to introduce the 4,200 Project. The goal of the 4,200 Project is to implement policy solutions to get water to the Great Salt Lake by restoring it to a sustainable level and creating an engaged network of passionate advocates.

We launched the 4,200 Project today, and unveiled our 4,200 Project Guidebook, a new 144-page whitepaper, detailing the dozen legislative tools available to us to raise the water levels of the Great Salt Lake. The 4,200 Project Guidebook serves as a ‘one stop shop’ for our proposed solutions to educate and empower the public, elected officials, and other stakeholders to get involved in the effort to save the Great Salt Lake. The whitepaper provides background on the Great Salt Lake crisis and dives deep into proposed policy solutions to get water to the Lake. The appendix of the report even includes prepared bill language for supporters and members of the public to take to their local legislators.

This campaign also includes the 4,200 Project Pledge, a call to action that outlines five different opportunities to get involved in the fight to raise the Great Salt Lake. You can access the Project 4,200 website at www.4200gsl.org and explore our policy solutions, sign the pledge, and stay up to date on all campaign and Great Salt Lake related news.

Please join us as we fight to restore and protect the Great Salt Lake!
